High Elevation, Higher Vibration: Little Switzerland Ride
A Torchys club ride from HQ in Raleigh up to Little Switzerland NC into the Blue Ridge Mountains with a relaxed pace, tight formation discipline, and a few planned stops for fuel, views, and photos. Key Motorcycle Routes: The Diamondback (NC 226A): Known for tight curves and big drops, this is a thrilling descent from Little Switzerland into the valley, part of the larger loop. The Devil's Whip (NC 80): Starting from the BRP, this section descends Buck Creek with numerous curves and elevation drops, offering intense riding. Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP): Connects these roads, providing scenic overlooks and smoother sections for cruising between the intense twists of 226A and 80. The Diamondback Loop (A Must-Ride): This classic 38-mile loop starts in Little Switzerland and incorporates: NC 226A (The Diamondback): Descends from Little Switzerland with many tight curves. US 221 ("The Connector"): A brief, wider stretch to relax. Toms Creek Road: Leads to NC 80. NC 80 (Devil's Whip): Climbs back up to the BRP.
